I grew up listening to different genres of music. I can honestly say that I have a diverse range of taste and ear for songs. I listen to and sing pop, ballad, r&b.. I am a big fan of rock, hip hop, soul, blues and underground music as well. When I was in high school I became interested in listening to Spanish and to the music of other countries as well. Diverse indeed.
Come 2009, a pile of catchy songs caught my attention. I listen to a few, though I couldn’t understand a single word, there was something in the melody that made me want to listen to it over and over again.. I eventually opened myself to the world of kpop, Its not just a trend, not just a thing of today, but it is slowly becoming a popular culture with a captivating taste of new and innovative firsts in music.. Very pop but strongly unconventional.
Before, I usually just have a playlist according to the genre.. However, due to the recent change in my listening habit, I divided my playlist into two.. Two major playlist, one for General Music/English with its sub playlist for the genres and the other one well, for Korean.. Honestly, It was not an intentional move for me but I had to do it due to the rapidly increasing number of kpop songs on my player.. LOL
P.S
Please do not assume that I am a super die hard fan like a kpop cosplayer or something. Though I dont have anything against them, I’d like to define myself as someone who just deeply appreciates Korean pop culture.
